IDEATION, CONCEPT, DESIGN
AND FUNCTIONALITY APP AND
RESPONSIVE WEBSITE

Sector: healthcare

The Problem: Between 20 to 30% of the global population displays some form of neurodivergence or distractibility trait Influenced by various factors such as the environment, daily routines, and societal norms, individuals may struggle to maintain focus or remember essential tasks like taking medications or attending medical appointments. MyMed's approach aims to identify and comprehend the underlying reasons behind individuals' challenges in adhering to health-related routines.

The goal: Design an app that helps users to maintain and remember health related tasks for themselves or for dependent relatives.

My role: UX designer leading the app and responsive website design from conception to delivery.

Responsibilities: Conducting interviews*, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, iterating on designs, determining information architecture, and responsive design.

*Interviews and usability studies were conducted and recorded on real people.

Project overview

Mymed is an app designed to help the user remember daily health care and treatments, the app can be used on any device like a tablet, smartphone and smartwatch, also can be managed through the website and receive notifications on any registered device and link them to get full advantage of its features

User Research Summary

• Use existing data about mental health and neurological disorders to elaborate questions for the users interview.

• The participants' ages range from 30 to 70 years old, with varying experiences and job statuses, and include individuals with and without neurological disorders.

• The feedback received through research made it very clear that users would find an app useful for managing and remembering their health-related activities.

Problem statement:

Charles is a very busy Aeronautic engineer that needs to be reminded to take his blood pressure medication daily because he works on projects that keeps him away for long periods of time making him forget to eat and take his medications

STARTING
THE DESIGN

• Digital wireframes

• Low-fidelity prototype

• Usability studies

Paper Wireframes

Draft of the preliminary concept for elements to be included in the digital wireframe. The design approach aims to create a streamlined and user-friendly ordering process, specifically tailored to address identified user pain points.

Digital wireframes

After ideating and drafting some paper wireframes, I proceeded to develop the initial designs for the pill reminder app. These designs were crafted with a primary focus on providing users with an intuitive platform to manage various health-related tasks. This includes timely medication intake, booking or rescheduling doctor appointments, tracking and requesting medication refills, and receiving helpful notifications to aid in treatment adherence. All of these features are seamlessly integrated within the app, offering users a comprehensive solution for their healthcare needs.

REFINING
THE DESIGN

• Mockups

• High-fidelity prototype

• Accessibility

Mockups

Drawing on insights gleaned from usability studies, I implemented several design enhancements aimed at improving user experience. These include clearer descriptions of medications, accompanied by larger text and images. Additionally, I streamlined the process for adding new medications to the list, making it more intuitive and user-friendly.

In addition to the aforementioned enhancements, further improvements were made to the buttons, optimizing their color and size to facilitate readability and streamline action completion. For instance, buttons such as "Request Refill," "Call," and "Email" were redesigned for easier identification and interaction. Moreover, warnings were strategically placed to provide important notifications. Additionally, a new feature was introduced to allow users to conveniently track the status of their orders.

Upon completing the mobile app design, the focus shifted to structuring the responsive website. The Mymed sitemap was used to guide the organizational structure of each screen's design, ensuring a cohesive and consistent experience across all devices.

Responsive designs

Mymed is a versatile app designed to help users stay on top of their daily healthcare routines and treatments. Accessible across all devices, Mymed seamlessly syncs data, ensuring that users can fully benefit from its features wherever they are.

Impact

The app streamlines medication reminders, appointments, and refill requests into a single, convenient platform. This integration simplifies the complexities of health management, making it easier for users to stay organized and on top of their routines. By ensuring that treatments and schedules are consistently followed, the app plays a crucial role in helping users maintain balanced health and overall well-being.
